SafeBlock Technologies (Pty) Ltd provides this page so that users of the SafeBlock SA mobile application can request deletion of their account and associated personal information. Requests are handled in accordance with applicable South African law, including the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA), and applicable platform requirements.
1. How to request deletion
You may request deletion of your SafeBlock SA account at any time by using our official contact page.
When submitting your request, please state clearly that you are requesting “SafeBlock Account Deletion” and provide the email address associated with your SafeBlock account so that we can identify the correct account.
2. Identity verification
To protect users from unauthorised deletion requests, SafeBlock may take reasonable steps to verify that the person requesting deletion is the account holder or is otherwise authorised to make the request. We will not ask you to provide your SafeBlock password through the website contact form.
3. Data we will delete
Where applicable and subject to lawful retention requirements, account deletion may include deletion or removal of personal information associated with your SafeBlock account, such as your account profile, account identifiers, community membership information, trusted-contact information stored with your account, notification-related account data, and other personal data linked to the account.
Content or records that are no longer required for service operation, security, legal compliance or legitimate record-keeping purposes may also be deleted or anonymised where appropriate.
4. Data that may be retained
Some information may need to be retained for a limited period where required or permitted by law, for fraud or abuse prevention, security, dispute resolution, financial or transaction record-keeping, legal claims, or other legitimate compliance purposes.
Where retention is necessary, access will be limited to the purpose for which the information is retained, and the information will not be used as an active SafeBlock account profile.
5. Subscriptions and Google Play
Deleting your SafeBlock account does not automatically cancel an active Google Play subscription. If you have an active SafeBlock subscription purchased through Google Play, you should manage or cancel that subscription through your Google Play account in accordance with Google Play’s subscription settings and policies.
6. What happens after deletion
Once an account deletion request has been completed, you may lose access to the SafeBlock account, communities, trusted-contact features, account-linked settings and other information associated with that account. Deleted account information may not be recoverable.
If you later wish to use SafeBlock again, you may need to create a new account, subject to the app’s then-current terms, eligibility requirements and available features.
7. Submit a deletion request
Use SafeBlock Technologies’ official contact page and clearly state “SafeBlock Account Deletion” in your message. Please use or provide the email address connected to the SafeBlock account you want deleted.
